September 11, 2023
iGA Istanbul Airport achieved phenomenal success by having been named "Europe's Best Airport with Over 40 Million Passengers," "Europe's Most Enjoyable Airport" and "Europe's Cleanest Airport" at the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards held by the Airports Council International (ACI), recognized as one of the most prestigious award programs in the aviation industry.
- Having won consecutive international awards from renowned institutions recognizing it as one of the best airports in the world, iGA Istanbul Airport received awards in three different categories at the award ceremony, which took place within the scope of the Airports Council International (ACI) Customer Experience Global Summit held in Incheon, South Korea on September 4-7, 2023.
- At the award ceremony held as part of ACI's Airport Service Quality ASQ program, iGA Istanbul Airport was chosen as "Europe's Best Airport in the 'Over 40 Million Passengers Per Year' Category," "Europe's Most Enjoyable Airport," and "Europe's Cleanest Airport". The awards were presented to Kadri Samsunlu, the CEO of iGA Istanbul Airport, at the award ceremony.
- iGA Istanbul Airport has also reached the 3rd Level within the scope of Airports Council International - Customer Experience Accreditation in 12 Months, marking another milestone for its customer satisfaction-oriented service approach.
- Participating as a speaker on the CEO panel concerning "Leadership Required to Instill a Customer Centric Culture" , held as a part of the Summit, Kadri Samsunlu, the CEO of iGA Istanbul Airport, pointed out "capacity" as the most important element for an airport to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Underlining that capacity sufficiency was one of the essential factors for passenger satisfaction, Samsunlu pointed out that in addition to having leverage in capacity, iGA Istanbul Airport stood out in passenger satisfaction for offering a variety of retail shopping, rest areas, a range of food-beverage options, culture, art, and entertainment features including the airport museum as well as exhibition areas.
- Samsunlu also said: "Our goal is to reach the 5th Level, which is also the top, in the Customer Experience Accreditation program, in which we reached the 3rd Level in 12 months. It may be challenging for airports that have stakeholders and which are also international transfer hubs. However, I am confident we can achieve this goal. To ensure success, we must work harmoniously with all our stakeholders, including our flag-carrier airline company, THY, and DHMI. While aiming for the top in terms of customer experience, our primary motivation is to make our passengers feel "valuable."
- ACI grants airports with awards in various categories based on their passenger satisfaction scores obtained through the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey, recognized as a global research tool, conducted during passengers' travels.
- The survey, taken by 465,000 people worldwide within the scope of the ASQ program, included questions for passengers using airports regarding aspects such as check-ins, accessibility, hygiene, shopping, and dining.
- With a customer and employee experience focus, ACI Customer Experience Global Summit, one of the world's top airport events, offers unmatched opportunities to learn from the leaders of the industry and the CEOs about their visions and airport experience strategies.
- The event hosts over 500 airport executives, customer experience professionals, and relevant executive managers. The event also serves as a platform for attendees to exhibit their solutions to improve passenger experience while exploring customer experience products, services, and technologies.
