“Roots for the Future” Tree Planting Event

On November 11, National Afforestation Day, iGA Istanbul Airport held a tree planting event in collaboration with the Flying to Goodness Association under the motto “Roots for the Future.” Within the framework of protocols signed with the General Directorate of Forestry, iGA has planted 3 million saplings across 3,000 hectares in Çorum, Ankara, Istanbul, Kayseri, Konya, and Karaman since 2019.

At the most recent event, more than 20 tree species—including black pine and cedar—were planted. All areas undergo three years of dedicated maintenance to ensure that the newly planted saplings transform into permanent green landscapes.

This initiative not only reflects iGA’s climate-friendly vision but also reinforces its strong commitment to ACI’s “Net Zero 2050” pledge, demonstrating the airport’s role as a pioneer in sustainable aviation.
