Istanbul Airport wins the 'Airport of the Year' award for the second time this year, following on from their success at the prestigious "2021 Air Transport Awards",

As one of the leading airports in the world, Istanbul Airport has been presented with consecutive awards from prestigious institutions and was selected as the 'Airport of the Year' at the Air Transport Awards ceremony, which evaluates and presents awards in 14 different categories within the aviation industry and is known as the only international aviation award in the world.

Winners were selected by a voting process involving over 4,000 readers and leading executives in the aviation industry, with the voting being held by the aviation authorities. Some of the winners of this competition from previous years include Singapore Changi, Dubai, Lisbon, and Doha Airports. Istanbul Airport holds the distinction of being the second airport to secure victory in the competition on consecutive years, after Singapore Changi Airport.

The annual 2021 Air Transport Awards are organized in collaboration with Hermes - Air Transport Organization, ATN (Air Transport News), and ALA (America Latina Aeronoticias), while leading aviation industry organizations such as Airports Council International (ACI), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) participate in the selection committee.

The voting process for Air Transport News is held every year by experts from around the world, who provide valuable insight on issues such as travel and accommodation. The award ceremony, in which Istanbul Airport was selected as the Airport of the Year, was held in Greece. Kadri Samsunlu, CEO of iGA, graciously accepted the award on behalf of Istanbul Airport.
