At the prestigious Skytrax World Airports Awards 2023, iGA Istanbul Airport earned significant recognition by securing the 'World's Best Family-Friendly Airport' and 'Best Airport in Southern Europe' awards. iGA Istanbul Airport's remarkable ascent from eighth to sixth position on the World's 10 Best Airports list was duly noted.

As a significant global transfer hub, iGA Istanbul Airport was honored with the title of Best Airport in Southern Europe, as voted by airline users at the Skytrax World Airport Awards. The event, organized by the UK-based aviation rating agency, took place at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on March 15, 2023.

At the awards ceremony, iGA Istanbul Airport was also presented with the title of World's Most Family-Friendly Airport. It was selected as the World's Best Airport in the category of airports with over 60 million passengers.

iGA Istanbul Airport, ranked eighth on the World's Best Airports list, as determined by the World Airport Awards last year, achieved further success by rising to sixth place this year.

Recognized as a "5-Star Airport" in 2020 and 2022 at the awards ceremony hosted by the London-based aviation institute Skytrax, established in 1989 by the Airports Council International and which has been presenting awards since 2000, outperformed over 550 airports at the 2022 World Airport Awards, winning three awards.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax congratulated iGA Istanbul Airport for its remarkable wins of the 'Best Airport in Southern Europe' and 'World's Leading Family-Friendly Airport'. Plaisted expressed his thoughts on the awards, stating that, "The past few years have been very challenging for airports around the world. As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is gratifying to witness the restoration of passenger volumes to pre-pandemic levels and iGA Istanbul Airport's recognition by its customer-base as a premier airport."
