iGA Istanbul Airport stands as the world’s most connected hub, holding Europe’s top spot for direct connectivity in 2024 and 2025, according to the Airport Industry Connectivity Report, published annually by ACI Europe.

With more than 330 routes of which 309 are nonstop, all serviced by 116 airline operators, iGA Istanbul Airport offers connectivity and infrastructure that simply cannot be replicated by any other airport hub globally.

But it’s not just the wide range of routes on offer that makes iGA Istanbul Airport ahead of the curve. Its world-leading infrastructure, services and passenger-first experiences, have led to prestigious accolades like ‘Best International Airport’ (Travel + Leisure magazine) and Conde Nast Traveler’s ‘Best Airport in the World’ (2025, 2024 and 2022), a reader’s choice award determined by hundreds of thousands of votes every year.

The iGA Lounge at Istanbul is one of the world’s best, setting the standard for the passenger experience with a gourmet menu, expanded product range and extra space for passengers to relax. iGA Lounge elevates the passenger experience, focusing on relaxation and convenience. It’s evidence of why Istanbul Airport is one of only four airports worldwide with ACI Level 5 Customer Experience accreditation.

As Europe’s only airport to implement triple runway operations, iGA continues to be at the forefront of global aviation. Alongside one of the world’s largest terminals, the expanded runway allows iGA Istanbul to focus on reliable, on-time flights and consider new growth opportunities. iGA recognises that in these changing times an airport needs to be modern with spectacular infrastructure that ensures all passengers needs are met and has the capacity to grow and change with different demands.

In 2024, iGA Istanbul Airport handled nearly 80 million passengers (+5% YoY) with over 517,000 aircraft movements. The airport collaborates globally through sister-airport partnerships, including with Chicago O’Hare and major hubs in Asia and Europe. Its digital-first approach features AI chatbots, RFID baggage tracking, biometric boarding, and a SITA biometric rollout that cut boarding times by 30%. With Europe’s first Triple Runway Operations boosting its hourly movements from 120 to 148, iGA is preparing for quadruple runway capacity in 2026 and planning for expansion to serve up to 200 million passengers annually.

With travellers increasingly prioritising sustainability, iGA Istanbul Airport is committed to Net Zero by 2050, backed by science-based targets and major investments in renewable energy. The airport is taking significant steps to meet these targets include a €212m investment in its Eskişehir Solar Power Plant. The plant will make iGA the first global hub to power its terminal entirely via solar, helping achieve emissions 10.5% below projections and will raise its 2030 renewables target from 50% to 90%. iGA Istanbul has been committed to sustainability since it launched in 2018, also working with TÜBİTAK to develop a Climate Adaptation Plan which can manage heat, storm and environmental risks ensuring long term operational stability as weather patterns shift.

With unmatched global connectivity, award-winning passenger experiences, and a pioneering approach to sustainability, iGA Istanbul Airport continues to set the benchmark for modern aviation.
