iGA Istanbul Airport Welcomes Its 200 Millionth Passenger

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, iGA Istanbul Airport welcomed its 200 millionth passenger, achieving yet another milestone. iGA Istanbul Airport hosted a celebratory event to commemorate this significant occasion.

 

Having welcomed 200 million passengers since October 29, 2018, iGA Istanbul Airport has demonstrated exceptional success in the aviation industry. Taking the aviation sector in Türkiye to the next level, iGA Istanbul Airport organized a send-off event in honor of its 200 millionth passenger. The event showcased the airport's remarkable architecture, resilient infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and commitment to sustainability.

 

Carine Lee, 32, traveling from Istanbul to Singapore, was the 200 millionth passenger at iGA Istanbul Airport, and was presented with a commemorative plaque and a Unifree gift card, valid at the Duty Free area. During the plaque ceremony, Mehmet Büyükkaytan, Vice President of Operations at iGA Istanbul Airport, presented Lee with an iGA Pass Premium subscription. Expressing her surprise at being the 200 millionth passenger, Lee, before boarding the flight to Singapore, added that traveling from iGA Istanbul Airport had made her journey significantly more comfortable.

 

Since the start of its operations, iGA Istanbul Airport has welcomed 51,506,183 domestic passengers, and 148,493,817 international passengers, with more than 23 million just since the start of this year.

 

During its 4.5 years of operation, iGA has recorded the highest passenger volume on its domestic flights to Antalya, with 6,335,248 passengers. This is followed by flights to Izmir, with 6,175,472 passengers, Ankara, with 4,874,014 passengers, Adana, with 3,603,883 passengers, and Trabzon, with 2,538,284 passengers.

 

In terms of international flights, Tehran emerged as the top destination with 5,764,713 passengers, followed by Moscow with 4,503,075 passengers, London with 3,786,903 passengers, Dubai with 3,214,308 passengers, and Tel Aviv with 2,723,274 passengers.
