
Our target: 100 airlines on the 100th anniversary
Thailand's flag-carrier airline company, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), will launch its flights to iGA Istanbul Airport on December 1, 2023. Kadri Samsunlu, the CEO of iGA Istanbul Airport, emphasized their aim to have 100 airlines operating at the airport by the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. He also noted that THAI is the 94th airline company to be hosted at iGA Istanbul Airport.
Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport-based national airline company, THAI, is scheduled to start direct flights between Bangkok and iGA Istanbul Airport on December 1, 2023. The airline's flights between Bangkok and Istanbul are scheduled to be operated on A350-900 aircraft with a capacity of 321 seats. Flight TG900 will depart from Bangkok daily at 11:45 PM, landing in Istanbul at 6:05 AM the following day. Flight TG901 will depart from Istanbul on the same day at 4:30 PM, landing in Bangkok at 5:35 AM.
THAI will further strengthen its extensive flight network connecting Europe to Asia Pacific, North Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia through its hub in Bangkok, thanks to these iGA Istanbul Airport flights. Launched in 1960, THAI is one of the founding members of the Frankfurt-based global airline alliance, Star Alliance.
The 94th airline hosted by iGA Istanbul Airport
Highlighting the target of reaching 100 airlines by the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, iGA Istanbul Airport CEO, Kadri Samsunlu, stated that THAI is the 94th airline to be hosted at iGA Istanbul Airport.
Samsunlu continued:
"We are pleased to welcome Thai Airways International, a Star Alliance member, to iGA Istanbul Airport. With Thai Airways joining us, we expect our global transfer hub to receive more flights from Thailand, South Asia, and Australia, boosting tourism in Türkiye. In addition, Thai Airways International passengers will be able to easily connect to Europe and Africa through Turkish Airline's wide connection network."
