
Wizz Air, a low-cost airline based in Hungary, inaugurated its route to Istanbul on Tuesday, March 28th. A welcome reception was held at Gate D5, on the International Arrivals floor at iGA Istanbul Airport, in honor of Wizz Air's first flight to Türkiye, which departed from London-Luton Airport in England.
Wizz Air has commenced flights to iGA Istanbul Airport. The carrier's inaugural flight to iGA Istanbul Airport departed from London-Luton Airport. The carrier's second flight is scheduled to depart from Gatwick Airport on Tuesday, March 28th.
iGA Istanbul Airport hosted a welcome reception for Wizz Air's inaugural flight to Türkiye. Majid Khan, Director of Cargo and Logistics at iGA Istanbul Airport, and Marion Geoffroy, Managing Director at Wizz Air UK, attended the reception.
With the commencement of flights by Wizz Air, there are now 84 airlines operating at iGA Istanbul Airport.
The rapidly-expanding, Budapest-based airline, was established 18 years ago, and boasts the largest aircraft fleet in Hungary. The carrier operates in numerous cities across Europe, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to London-Luton and Gatwick Airports, Wizz Air is expected to start flights from Budapest, in Hungary, and Iaşi, in Romania, to Istanbul in the near future.
Speaking at a press conference held at the hotel in the International Departures area of iGA Istanbul Airport in January, Evelin Jeckel, Chief Network Officer of Wizz Air, said, "We will be introducing four new routes from Europe to Istanbul. We have never flown to iGA Istanbul Airport before. We are delighted to be here."
