Biodiversity Conservation
Key initiatives under this plan include:
- Implementation of the “5,000 Hectares Afforestation in 5 Years Project” in cooperation with the General Directorate of Forestry,
- Relocation of turtles from the airport site to suitable habitats,
- Translocation of rare bulbous plants outside the project area,
- Collection of seeds from endemic plant species and transfer to a gene bank,
- Monitoring of bird populations and implementation of mitigation measures,
- Monitoring of mammal populations and application of impact reduction efforts,
- A beekeeping rehabilitation project to support bees—one of the most critical pollinators—and thereby ecosystem services,
- Monitoring and protection of key habitats in collaboration with academics and relevant stakeholders.
We continue to implement these measures during the airport’s operational phase, ensuring that biodiversity conservation remains an integral part of our long-term environmental management.
