Water and Wastewater Management
Given the challenges of diminishing water resources, increasing consumption, and pollution, we anticipate that the value of water will become even more critical in the future and that the Water Footprint Standard will soon evolve into a “Zero Water Footprint” concept.
The first step in reducing our water footprint is to measure it—quantifying all water-related inputs and outputs to establish a baseline for setting our targets. To reduce our footprint, we implement projects aimed at lowering water consumption, revise and renew equipment and processes, explore alternative water sources, and recover used water.
At iGA Istanbul Airport, all wastewater is treated at our on-site wastewater treatment facility with a daily capacity of 15,000 m³. All landscape areas at the airport are irrigated exclusively with treated water. As a result, the water footprint of our landscaping operations is zero. We are working to replicate similar practices across other critical processes within our operations.
