iGA Istanbul Airport Achieves Level 3 Carbon Accreditation
iGA Istanbul Airport has reached a significant milestone by earning Level 3 accreditation under the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program of Airports Council International (ACI Europe). With this achievement, iGA has expanded its carbon management scope beyond its own operations to also include Scope 3 emissions generated by its wider airport ecosystem.
Since its inception, Istanbul Airport has placed sustainability at the heart of every stage—from design and construction to operations and reporting. Its commitment to climate action has been validated through internationally recognized certifications. To ensure accurate monitoring and reporting of emissions, systems have been established in line with ISO 14064:2018, while the integration of ISO 50001 Energy Management System has strengthened efficiency efforts.
Through IoT-based monitoring and control technologies, mechanical automation solutions, energy-efficient cooling systems, and stakeholder training programs, iGA continuously optimizes its energy use. These measures not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute directly to reducing carbon emissions, reinforcing the airport’s long-term climate strategy.
