E-passport System

The E-Passport System allows Turkish citizens aged 18 years and over with chip-embedded passports to expedite their travel process. The system allows passengers to pass through 30 e-passport checkpoints at the airport (16 in arrivals, 10 in departures, and 4 in the transfer area) in approximately 18 seconds, using facial recognition and fingerprint verification.

 

Passengers must scan their passports at the first checkpoint where the system is available. Fingerprint and facial biometric data is then matched with the information stored on the passport. As a result, passengers can complete their passport procedures in approximately 18-20 seconds. Additionally, passport stamping is conducted by security officers.
