Charging Areas

Charging stations are available at the check-in waiting areas, and at the seating areas near the gates. Data from the International Energy Agency indicates that 860 million people did not have access to electricity in 2018. 80% of the 800 million people who were able to gain access to electricity in 2010 were located in Asia. In sub-Saharan Africa, nearly 600 million people in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda still lack access to electricity. People are forced to use expensive fuels to meet their basic needs after sunset.

Eco-Cycle

Since the 1950s, one of the most effective solutions devised by those living under these conditions has been the generation of kinetic energy using bicycles. The fundamental principle behind this approach involves the production of energy through the rider's pedaling movement on the bicycle, which, in turn, sets a connected, specialized gear mechanism in motion.

As you pedal towards a healthier lifestyle on this Eco-bike, please consider how important the "energy" need is for humanity.

What will you gain from this?

After pedaling for 10 minutes, you will be rewarded with exclusive discounts that can be used in the duty-free shopping and food & beverage zones. You are also contributing to a healthier lifestyle, by burning 100 calories for each 10 minutes that you pedal. If 1,000 individuals pedal for just 10 minutes, enough electricity will be generated to power five households for one month.

Please note

If you have any of the health problems listed below, please refrain from riding the bicycle!

  1. Severe back and neck problems
  2. Hip, knee, and ankle joint concerns
  3. Severe shoulder issues
  4. Past history of heart attacks
  5. Cardiac insufficiency
  6. Cardiac dysrhythmia
  7. Heart valve diseases
  8. Coronary stent/by-pass procedures
  9. Epilepsy
  10. Blood pressure diseases
  11. Congenital heart disease
  12. Chronic lung disease (COPD and/or asthma)
