iGA Istanbul Airport Makes a Significant Contribution to Sustainability Goal with Solar Power Plant Investments
iGA Istanbul Airport Makes a Strong Contribution to Net Zero Targets with Solar Power Plant Investment
iGA Istanbul Airport has taken a significant step in the renewable energy transformation with its Solar Power Plant (SPP) investments implemented in line with its sustainability vision.
A total of 132.9 million kWh of electricity was produced in the August-December 2025 period from the main SPP with a capacity of 199.32 MWe, established on an area of 3 million m² in Eskişehir, and with the contribution of the 0.68 MWe capacity SPP applications located in the parking towers of Istanbul Airport. As a result of this five-month production, renewable sources met 54% of the airport's total electricity consumption in 2025.
With this investment:
• Approximately 57,000 tons of carbon emissions were prevented.
• A contribution equivalent to the annual carbon absorption capacity of 2.7 million trees was provided.
• Energy generated was equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 38,000 households.
• Environmental benefits were created equivalent to driving 885 million kilometers with electric vehicles.
With the solar power plant reaching full capacity, the goal is to meet all of the airport's electricity needs from renewable sources.
iGA Istanbul Airport continues to take clear and effective actions that can be expanded upon to achieve its Net Zero 2050 target.
