Operational Resilience and Continuity

At iGA Istanbul Airport, our priority is to remain fully prepared for any disruption or extraordinary situation in our operations, ensuring uninterrupted service and maintaining the highest level of passenger experience.

In the event of a potential crisis, we operate a Crisis Management Center, equipped with all the necessary technical infrastructure to enable its members to manage effectively. Regular Security Committee meetings are held monthly within the Crisis Management Center, ensuring seamless coordination and swift management of all processes in times of crisis.

Our crisis management practices are fully aligned with the Emergency Plan and Crisis Management Directive, which outline in detail all required procedures to be followed during an emergency. In the event of a crisis, we act in accordance with these guidelines, provide timely updates, and coordinate all processes comprehensively.

Against severe weather conditions such as strong winds, snow, and heavy rain, our dedicated operations teams remain on duty 24/7 to prevent disruptions and ensure a safe travel experience. During extraordinary weather events, with more than 400 personnel and a fleet of 179 vehicles, we work to provide passengers with a secure and comfortable journey.

Under our Safety Management System (SMS), we implement a comprehensive process to ensure safety across both airside and terminal operations. This system allows us to continuously monitor and improve operational safety. Through our Voluntary Reporting Culture, we identify hazards, risks, and unsafe conditions on the ground and carry out corrective actions.

Foreign Object Debris (FOD)—objects such as stones or plastic fragments on runways and aprons—can pose risks to aircraft and lead to accidents. To mitigate these risks, our personnel conduct 24/7 FOD inspections, detecting and removing such objects promptly.

For fire safety across all facilities and buildings at iGA Istanbul Airport, more than 85,000 fire detection points are continuously monitored via four ARFF (Airport Rescue and Firefighting) monitoring centers and two technical monitoring centers, ensuring round-the-clock protection.
