Our sustainability governance approach extends beyond internal decision-making processes to encompass the relationships we build with external stakeholders. At iGA Istanbul Airport, we are committed to maintaining continuous, two-way communication with all stakeholders within the framework of transparency, participation, and accountability. Through effective communication channels, we aim to understand needs and expectations, co-create solutions, and foster continuous improvement.
To collect feedback from our passengers and all other users we serve, we actively utilize more than 19 different communication channels. These feedback mechanisms are further supported by digital and face-to-face surveys, neuromarketing studies, employee-driven passenger experience analyses, and international measurement tools such as ACI ASQ Airport Service Quality. In line with our target of responding to feedback within 10 days, we manage processes with great diligence; in cases requiring further investigation, we provide updated information every 10 days.
We maintain relationships with our ecosystem stakeholders (airlines, ground handling companies, security providers, retail operators, etc.) through regular meetings as well as coordination mechanisms established with sector authorities such as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the State Airports Authority (DHMI). With the Stakeholder Communication Procedure introduced in 2024, we systematized this engagement further.
In the same year, we established the iGA Istanbul Airport Academy Stakeholder Platform, aiming to foster mutual support in the field of training with ecosystem and industry stakeholders. Looking ahead, our plans include launching a digital communication platform that will bring together all ecosystem stakeholders.
We place great importance on maintaining constant, two-way communication with our employees, responding swiftly to their needs. Through social events, internal communication campaigns, cross-departmental collaborations, and mentorship programs, we strive to strengthen employee engagement and well-being.
For the local community, we operate a Community Request and Grievance Mechanism, where feedback is reviewed within 5 days and resolved within 30 days. We ensure that the progress of the issue raised is shared with the individual submitting the feedback.
★ We work in close contact with government institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), focusing on co-developing solutions to social, environmental, and sectoral challenges. We also foster collaborations on issues such as climate change, accessibility, and disaster resilience.
★ We collaborate with academic institutions and research centers to develop science-based projects and strengthen our data-driven decision-making processes. Under the umbrella of iGA Academy, we conduct joint training and research initiatives with these stakeholders.
★ We engage with investors and financial institutions through regular communication, sharing our sustainability performance, risk management practices, and long-term strategies.
★ Through our social investment program, we support regional development in areas such as employment, education, and infrastructure, while working closely with local administrations to address community needs.
★ We continue to share corporate developments, success stories, and sustainability initiatives with the public through members of the press and media.
In 2024, we hosted the first Istanbul Airport Sustainability Summit, an important event where we informed our ecosystem stakeholders about our strategic objectives. During the summit, we shared our sustainability strategies, goals, and ongoing projects with participants, while stakeholders such as DHL and Turkish Airlines presented exemplary practices. According to post-event evaluations, 95.24% of participants stated that they gained a clear understanding of iGA Istanbul Airport’s sustainability plan and saw collaboration opportunities more concretely.
